What is Hexagon Hoarder?
Hexagon Hoarder is a minesweeper like games. But instead of squares, the playing field contains hexagons. But this is not the only thing that sets it apart from the normal Minesweeper. With Minesweeper you get only indicators telling you how many mines surround that square. In Hexagon Hoarder the indicators does also tell you how many bombs surround this hexagon, but how many treasures too!
Your job is to deduct which are the bombs and which are the treasures. Avoid the bombs but do find the treasures! Only then your crew members will be satisfied.
In this alpha
First and foremost, we want to thank you for showing interest in this game! We really hope you like it.
Though, we're still in a development and the current downloadable version is an alpha version, meaning the game is not (feature) complete. I would like to list a couple things which aren't in the game yet and also issues we're aware of.
It might not be good advertising for this game, but we want to be open and honest about what is and what is not in the game right now so you won't be disappointed.
Game modes
The full game will offer 2 game modes:
- Expedition mode
- Adventure mode
Expedition Mode
The expedition mode, which is in the game right now, is a game mode which allows you to set up the playing field using certain settings. Set up the field as you wish, making it easier or more difficult and try to find all the treasures.
Adventure Mode
The adventure mode, which is not in the game right now, is a game mode where you play through a series of generated levels. These levels represent different locations you'll visit during your adventure as a captain.
The challenge is to keep your crew happy by finding enough treasures to meet their expectations. An unhappy crew will lead to low morale which means less opportunities to reveal tiles in the following level.
In between levels a scenario will be presented with certain solutions to overcome them. Each solution has a lasting effect on the rest of the adventure. For example, this could be more bombs, loss of morale, or a higher chance to find extra lives.
Ultimately the challenge is to find as much treasures as you can before the crew has enough of your failures.
Sound
Currently the game has no sound, of course the final version will have background music and sound effects.
Scoring
Currently the game doesn't have a fully fledged out scoring system. Currently the game keeps track of the amount of "coins" you've found. 10 for a treasure and 1 for tiles which aren't adjacent to any bombs or treasures.
As a consequence, the game isn't showing any scoring, statistics or highscore tables.
Save system
Currently the game doesn't have a save system. We believe that the expedition games are quick and don't require a saving system.
We are planning a saving system for the Adventure Mode.
Options
Currently the game has no options-menu.
Issues
- The animation for losing or winning the level are the same. This might confuse you to think you've lost the game, while you actually won it.
- When marking/unmarking a tile too quickly in succession, the animation bugs out. A tile might look unmarked while it actually is marked.
